Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric wins back to back MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test

10 December 2010

Goodyear’s Eagle F1 Asymmetric has once again shown that it is the best performing road tyre in Australia by taking out the 2010 MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test, giving it back to back wins afteralso winning the title last year.

The Goodyear tyre was quickest through the slalom and combined excellent all round performance in the wet and dry on the other tests to come out as the overall winner.

James Peate, Goodyear’s Communications Manager, said that the result was an excellent reflection of the tyre’s innovative technologies and superb handling capabilities in all conditions, as well as shows the benefits that premium tyres can offer consumers.

“The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric is an extraordinary all-round performance tyre ideal for Australia’s environment,” Mr Peate said.

“Its revolutionary Active Cornergrip and Racing Compound technology provide improved braking, cornering and handling in all conditions."

“The tread design also allows for superior control and comfort. The fact that the tyre placed highly in each test is again another great reflection of Goodyear’s innovation and how adaptable and flexible this road tyre is."

“These results also clearly show the safety and performance benefits that buying a quality tyre such as Goodyear can provide."

“We at Goodyear could not be more proud to have come out on top in these tests.”

The 2010 MOTOR Magazine Tyre Test was conducted at the Sutton Road test facility in the ACT using a Subaru WRX STi as the test vehicle, with professional race driver, stunt driver and driving instructor Warren Luff behind the wheel to ensure consistency.

Seven of the most popular 245/40R18 size performance tyres on the Australian market were voluntarily submitted for the test, with each discipline – slalom, braking in both wet and dryconditions, road loop and skidpan – completed five times with each product. The best and worst scores were then removed and the middle three averaged to establish the final scores.

The test conditions implemented by MOTOR Magazine provided one the most comprehensive, unbiased and independent rankings of Australia’s leading road tyres.

Available in a variety of sizes, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric is now the undeniable leader in ultra high performance passenger road tyre market, currently holding both the highly acclaimed MOTOR Magazine (2009 and 2010) and WHEELS Magazine (2008) Tyre Test titles.
