Goodyear launches it's quietest ever passenger tyre - providing maximum grip and maximum control
01 October 2010
Designed for Australian premium car drivers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of their urban surrounds whilst driving, Goodyear’s new Eagle EfficientGrip will help provide maximum control on the roads while making the journey both smoother and quieter.
Launching on October 1, the Eagle EfficientGrip delivers drivers rock-solid vehicle stability and reduced wet-braking distances, courtesy of a high number of biting edges to grip the road surface for greater traction. Its low-rolling resistance will also help contribute to improved fuel efficiency.
As its latest premium passenger offering, the Eagle EfficientGrip is Goodyear’s quietest, most comfortable tyre ever. Goodyear’s latest innovation is engineered with advanced “Quiet Tred” technology to minimise road noise and help deliver a bump-free ride and quiet comfort, without compromising on safety, the hallmark of all Goodyear tyres.
“Luxury car owners in Australia want to enjoy their time on the road. Whether navigating busy city streets or going on a weekend drive, these astute drivers are after an enhanced driving experience which doesn’t compromise on safety” said Blake Vincent, Goodyear Product Manager for consumer tyres.
“A premium car deserves a premium tyre, and the new Eagle EfficientGrip is engineered with cuttingedge tyre technology to minimise noise, facilitate a smoother ride and provide ultimate vehicle stability. With new levels of innovation, we’re pleased to introduce the Australian market to a new level of driver comfort and safety which will be both a source of pleasure and relaxation.”
The Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip is set to become the new leader in premium tyres for luxury passenger vehicles. Its leading technology and advanced features will help to achieve safer cornering and maximum grip in all driving conditions, meaning that luxury car owners can now enjoy sheerdriving pleasure.
The tyre is already an approved Original Equipment (OE) fitment on selected vehicles from manufactures such as BMW, Holden and Mercedes-Benz, and was recently awarded the 2010 Motor Trend “Comfort Tyre of the Year” award in China.
Maximum Grip for Maximum Control
The Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip is designed for maximum control in all year round driving conditions and reduced wet-braking distances. Based on external tests on wet-braking performance, the Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip outperforms leading competitors in its class. This wet-braking test was conducted by TÜV SUD Automotive GmbH in Mireval, France, on size 205/55 R16 on a low mu wet asphalt surface, and showed that Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip provided reduced wet-braking distances of up to 1.7 meters versus a leading competitor.
Long Lasting Quiet Ride
Thanks to “Quiet Tred” technology, Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip achieves a long lasting quiet ride. A closed shoulder design helps to reduce both tyre wear and the audible radiated noise from both inside and outside of the car. A balanced block distribution facilitates smoother tread block entering into the ground for lower impact noise. The perpendicular edge blading gradually reduces the block stiffness, lowering the block vibrations and reducing the radiated noise.
Silky Smooth and Comfortable
Another feature of “Quiet Tred” technology in the Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip is an active vibration dampening carcass. A stiff base under the tread and an absorbing rubber gum strip soaks up the tyre vibrations, reducing impact of road irregularities. Based on internal subjective, and interior and exterior instrumented noise tests versus leading Goodyear tyres in its class under urban driving conditions, Eagle EfficientGrip is Goodyear's quietest and most comfortable tyre ever. These noise tests were conducted on size 205/55 R16 by thecompany’s GIC*L Product Performance Department in Thailand.
Goodyear Eagle EfficientGrip is composed of a high loaded silica blend which reduces the friction between rubber molecules resulting in less energy loss and lower rolling resistance. The stiff base under the tread prevents road induced block movements thereby reducing the overall tyre vibration. The resulting benefit is a measurable reduction in the consumption of fuel.
